Three Amigos Mexican Grill Bar

Overview

Walking into Three Amigos Mexican Grill Bar feels less like stepping into a restaurant and more like being welcomed into a neighborhood hangout where everyone knows the food is going to be good. Located at 1014 & 1016, N Lincoln St, Wilmington, DE 19805, United States, this spot has quietly built a reputation among locals who care about flavor, consistency, and a relaxed atmosphere. I first stopped by on a busy Friday evening, expecting a long wait, but the staff handled the crowd smoothly, keeping things moving without ever rushing anyone.

The menu is where the personality of the place really shows. Instead of trying to reinvent Mexican cuisine, the kitchen focuses on doing the classics right. Tacos come out hot, generously filled, and balanced with fresh toppings. I watched a cook prepping carne asada on the flat top, trimming and seasoning it carefully before it ever hit the grill. That attention to process matters. According to culinary research from the National Restaurant Association, restaurants that focus on consistent preparation methods see higher repeat customer rates, and it’s easy to see why here. Every plate that reached our table tasted like it had been made with intention, not shortcuts.

One of my favorite experiences involved a simple order of enchiladas. Nothing fancy, just a red sauce version with rice and beans. What stood out was the sauce itself, rich without being heavy, clearly simmered rather than poured from a jar. A friend of mine, who has worked in professional kitchens, pointed out that sauces like this require controlled heat and time to develop depth, something many places skip when they’re busy. That extra effort explains why reviews often mention the comforting, homemade feel of the food.

Beyond the food, the bar side adds another layer to the experience. Margaritas are mixed to order, not pre-batched, which aligns with best practices recommended by beverage experts from organizations like the United States Bartenders’ Guild. Fresh citrus makes a noticeable difference, and you can taste it in every sip. On a quieter weekday night, I chatted with the bartender about popular drinks, and he mentioned that customer feedback heavily influences what stays on the drink list. That kind of responsiveness builds trust with regulars.

The atmosphere stays casual and welcoming, making it easy to linger. Families come in for early dinners, while later in the evening the crowd shifts toward friends meeting up after work. The layout supports both, with enough space to avoid feeling cramped. Cleanliness is also consistent, something diners increasingly value. Data from food safety studies shows that visible cleanliness strongly affects customer confidence, and this place clearly takes that seriously.

Locations matter too, and being situated on N Lincoln Street makes it accessible for locals without feeling overly commercial. Parking is manageable, and the surrounding area feels familiar rather than touristy. Many reviews mention that it’s the kind of restaurant you return to not because it’s trendy, but because it’s reliable. That reliability is often overlooked, yet it’s one of the hardest things to maintain in the restaurant industry.

Of course, no place is perfect. During peak hours, wait times can stretch a bit, and the noise level rises when the bar is full. Still, those are small trade-offs for a restaurant that consistently delivers good food, friendly service, and a sense of community. From the way the menu is executed to how staff interact with guests, everything suggests a team that understands what diners actually want and works hard to deliver it.

This is a great Mexican restaurant in Wilmington. The food is authentic. The service is great. And the prices are reasonable. The last two times I've been there I've had the shrimp fajitas and they are fantastic. The restaurant is relatively small. The decor is nice. And the place is clean. Another thing I like about it is they don't make the food too spicy. They allow you to add the hot sauce so you can make it as hot as you want. This is one of my favorite places to go in Wilmington.

Very nice place, seemed very clean. Indoor and outdoor seating. Decor was cute, colorful. Menu had a lot of options! Margarita was delicious . Food was super hot and DELICIOUS! We had combo 1 enchiladas and a chimichanga dinner. Everything was great. Service was a tad slow but probably because they were busy and only 2 servers for the small place. They do have a small parking lot that was full but street parking was easy. Would definitely go back!

The chefs know what they're doing. The carne asada is marinated exquisitely. I've never had anything like it. Small, humble venue. I dig that about it.

Absolutely delicious Mexican food and amazing service. We felt welcomed the moment we entered. We sat by the window and enjoyed the view of the nearby Redbud trees, while the sizzling sounds of the veggies made us more exited for the food. It arrived and did not disappoint us. Important: you’ve got to try the guacamole. My favourite? The chorizo and the carnitas taco. My daughter loved the burrito, which reminded her of those she enjoyed at Brown University.

After a very long work weekend with little results all i wanted was some good food. Well the chorizo burrito I'd me just right. Plus the complementary chips and salsa was very nice as well. Thank you Three amigos Mexican grill for soothing my soul with some awesome food. Will definitely be back again in the future

Amazing food and drinks along with great service. I ordered the vegan enchiladas, which were excellent. My michelada was also great. So glad I came here to celebrate my birthday!

I've finally found my go-to spot for authentic Mexican food in Delaware! From the moment we walked into Three Amigos, the atmosphere was so vibrant and welcoming. The staff greeted us with big smiles and were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our entire meal. Now, let's talk about the foodβ€”it was absolutely outstanding! We started with the guacamole, and you could tell it was made fresh to order. For our main course, I had the "Fajitas 3 Amigos," and it was sizzling, perfectly seasoned, and came with a generous portion of steak, chicken, and shrimp. Every single bite was packed with flavor. It’s so refreshing to find a place that serves truly authentic Mexican cuisine with high-quality ingredients. The prices are reasonable, the portions are great, and the service is top-notch. I cannot recommend Three Amigos enough and I'm already planning my next visit!
